I have an HP reverb. Does anyone know if it works the same way?

Tried this out last night. It was a lot of fun to play around with lighting, scene setup and manual posing!

(added the speech bubbles outside of Manga Maker VR)

There are lots of outfit and location options and some of the sliders are crazy detailed (like facial expressions), but others not so much (for example body adjustments).

A few things were irritating (most to least from top to bottom):

  • No saving, I've spent hours on customizing this scene and won't be able to continue with it since everything resets the next time I launch the program
  • Slider movement sometimes does not stop (I grab a slider, move it to another position, then release grip, but the slider keeps moving with my head movement until I press some buttons repeatedly, might be related to the next issue)
  • Controllers (Oculus Rift) sometimes behave weirdly: the left controller X/Y sometimes stop moving me down/up and instead X takes a pic like A on the right controller would, or the right grab does not grab a slider and only does so after holding left grab, then right grab again, feels like the controller randomly switch roles from time to time
  • Precise slider movement is difficult, especially body size where small adjustments on the slider have a big impact on the character, having a number input for more precision and less "shaky head dependency" would be nice :)
  • Body (or prop/scene) size adjustments move the object around, would be nice if the object would stay in place so it doesn't have to be moved back and the size adjustment is more easy to judge
  • Camera sliders reset to default positions after taking a picture
  • Characters do not seem to have a delete option like props and lights do

Do you plan to keep working on this? If not, would you be willing to share the Unity project so others can expand it?

Is this playable on pc?

for oculus rift yes

Oof rip me, tnx for taking time to reply

I found a workaround for all non-oculus headsets.

  1. download and install revive from its github page,
  2. open the revive installation directory (C:\Program Files\Revive),
  3. open the manga maker vr installation directory,
  4. drag and drop the Manga Maker VR.exe onto the reviveinjector.exe,
  5. profit $$$

That's interesting, but I'm new to the whole VR installing thing with my Oculus. the only thing I can do is installing it from the headset itself. is there a way to install the files needed here on a PC and transfer them to the headset? by the way, I have the Oculus Quest, not the predecessor that could hookup to the PC nor the Oculus Quest II.

Crashes on the valve index with an access violation by OVRPlugin.dll

OVRPlugin.dll caused an Access Violation (0xc0000005)

  in module OVRPlugin.dll at 0033:76822415.

crash.txt (github.com)

I can provide the memory dump file if requested

because it's not made for valve index....only Oculus

are you able to convert it to openXR so its compatible with all PCVR headsets?

would be greatly appreciated

A quest version would be awesome

Are there plans for a quest editiion?

thought about it...still unsure if it would work

It will launch but the controls don't work.

Is SteamVR support planned?
Now it crash with Index.
Edit: It seems camera ray cast to UI is crash it. Every time I look floating UI it will crash.

I got it to work using the revive injector, just drag and drop manga maker executable onto the reviveinjecter.exe which can be found in the default revive installation directory (C:\Program Files\Revive)

Does that also need FB/oculus/meta software running in machine?

sadly i think revive requires it, but you can attempt to install it without the oculus app

(1 edit)

is there anything similar to this for pc?

edit: For windows specifically.

This is for windows...you just need an oculus rift

I'm broke and don't have one, i probably should have worded as not requiring a VR system (sorry for being late to reply)

Is there any planning for Desktop Version (Keyboard +mouse)?

(-2)

Sadly not.
